!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Do they not know Jaguars are dangerous? Do people really think big cats are just really large docile house cats?

What do you expect from mere shaved apes?

I EXPECT TWO OF THEM NOT TO THINK GETTING A SELFIE WITH A JAGUAR YOU HAVE TO GET TO BY CLIMBING OVER A ‘DO NOT CLIMB OVER TO SEE THE DEADLY PREDATOR’ BARRIER IS A GOOD IDEA! Mrs. Einstein over here wasn’t even the first person to get nailed by the Jaguar for trying to get a selfie with it this month over there, and this month only has 10 days in it so far COME ON MAN!

Wouldn't Instagram be so much better, not to mention everything else in the real world?

I saw this earlier and was disappointed with how the attack turned out. #TeamJaguar

The opposite will happen. The dumb people who are already rich will get the money and blow it on dumb things and then you won’t be able to retire.

Funny thing is, as anyone who’s owned a housecat and spent any time at a zoo knows , j aguars (and tigers, lions etc) * are * just big house cats. They behave e xactly like them, just at 10x scale.
A housecat can’t resist taking a swipe at anything smaller than it that comes in range, and will have a go at something much bigger (i.e. a per son) if it’s in the mood. Why would you expec t a jaguar to behave any differently?
Really, it’s just a look at e vo lution in action. People who are casual around apex predators have a statistically lower cha n ce of pas sing on their genes . W hich really makes you wonder just how dumb we were back in the standing-ape days, con sidering this is the smart ver si on.

Given how big Jaguars are, this person was extremely lucky even if it was only “playing .” Jaguars in the wild aren’t known for attacking / killing people even as often as the already fairly rare mountain lion / puma attacks . But captive tigers will and have take a swipe at whoever gets too close to their cage in addition to preying on humans occasionally when wild , and keepers at the San Francisco Zoo have been attacked in that way, including one having her hand “degloved”when she just got too close , that is, all the skin was removed by a swipe of a Sumatran tiger’s claws. And of course, a Sumatran tiger escaped several years ago (on Christmas) when being taunted by a pair of brothers and their friend, pursuing them to maul them and killing the friend. The SF Zoo did not have sufficiently tall fences (obviously) and unfortunately in addition to the death, the tiger was shot to death by the police (who thought it was a joke at first when called ). The whole selfie thing, especially when it comes to heights (like the model who was dangled by one arm off of a Dubai skyscraper, or the couple who fell to their death off a cliff in Yosemite recently) and wild animals is insane. At least the woman in this case later apologized, maybe there is hope for her.

News report from the incident;
... leaving claw marks etched in the asphalt
HOLY FUKK TIGERS ARE FUKKIN STRONG. Takes a real genius to think provoking one is a good idea.

I saw a forensic recreation of the incident, they theorized that in addition to the fact that the fence was a lot shorter than they thought (12 1/2 feet instead of 18 recommended), the tiger and many others that have been selectively bred to try to keep the species viable, are essentially super-tigers since they only breed the best ones. So she was able to leap farther than a “normal” tiger. Of course, anyone who has tried to get a domestic cat to lie down when they don’t want to, knows that they are amazingly strong for their size, so taunting a cat 30 times the size was never a good idea. The two brothers who survived the attack (as I heard it, and according to some eyewitnesses, their friend who died was not taunting the cat and actually tried to come to the aid of one of them), in addition to having had some drinks, were troublemakers before and after the incident. After finishing with the friend, t he cat ignored other zoo goers and tracked them to the cafe they fled to, where it proceeded to maul them further; apparently the cafe was closed and the employee inside, thinking them drunk, didn’t let them in. The cat was pissed and specifically came after them, so yeah, these guys just don’t make good decisions and they could not have picked a worse target for their misguided attempts at domination. The description of the injuries to the friend on Wikipedia is horrific, and probably took the cat no effort and only a couple of seconds. They are killing machines. I love all big cats, but those who think they can be domesticated and you can have them as pets / friends are will fully ignoring that even the best behaved ones can accidentally hurt you badly without even meaning to , ala Siegfried & Roy. Cheetahs are the only ones that are relatively harmless to humans . Relatively.
